These BD Vacutainer® Serum tubes are vacuum blood collection tubes intended for serum analysis without a separator.
Serum tubes are available in glass and plastic (PET) varieties. In glass tubes, the surface acts as coagulation activator. In plastic tubes, silica particles are added as clot activator. These tubes are labelled with the abbreviation CAT (Clot Activator Tube).
Coagulation times
The recommended minimum coagulation time for serum tubes is 60 minutes.
