Calibration and repair

Novolab offers you reliable maintenance, repair, and calibration service for your pipettes and dispensers through our own repair service, in combination with our network of partners. We support the most commonly used brands of pipettes (e.g. Eppendorf, Brand, Finnpipette, Gilson, Biohit, etc.) and dispensers by BRAND. Just like you, we are not very keen on surprises, so we have devised a transparent system with a clear delineation of costs.

1. CALIBRATION (for recalibrating pipets)
Pipettes are calibrated according to the gravimetric calibration method. If the pipette does not conform to pre-determined specifications, it gets readjusted. After readjustment, the pipette is calibrated yet again under the same conditions and is given an official calibration certificate. Readjustment is always included in the calibration price.

It is standard for us to offer the following types of calibration*:

5@1: 5 measurements at 1 volume (only for fixed volume pipettes)

- 5@2: 5 measurements at 2 volumes (10% and 100% of the nominal volume) - standard on 3 channels for 8- and 12-channel pipets or on all channels)

- 5@3: 5 measurements at 3 volumes (10%, 50% and 100% of the nominal volume) - standard on 3 channels for 8- and 12-channel pipets or on all channels

- 10@2: 10 measurements at 2 volumes (10% and 100% of the nominal volume)

As found 10@1+ as left 10@1 BELAC: As-found (“before”) measurement + 10 measurements at 1 volume with a BELAC certificate (391-CAL) (For fixed volumes)

- As found 10@1+ as left 10@3 BELAC: As-found (“before”) measurement + 10 measurements at 3 volumes (10%, 50% and 100% of the nominal volume) with a BELAC certificate (391-CAL)

Also, if desired, you may also request a 4@1 as-found measurement.

(*) We also do custom calibration types, if desired. (Price-quotes upon request).

2. BELAC CALIBRATION OF NEW PIPETTES

- 10@3@BELAC: BELAC: 10 measurements at 10, 50 and 100% of the nominal volume. (excluding maintenance or a “before” measurement).
Applicable for 1/8/12-channel pipettes. Calibrations of this type must be ordered directly in combination with the pipette order. Each BELAC calibration thereafter is classified as a recalibration of pipettes. Calibrations of this type may only be requested for new pipettes ordered from Novolab NV/SA.

3. STANDARD CALIBRATION & DAkkS calibration of the HandyStep Electronic.

- 10@3 calibrations
with 5mL PD-Tip (+ optional 1.25mL or 50mL) with or without a DAkkS certificate from the National Accreditation Body of the Federal Republic of Germany.

MAINTENANCE AND CALIBRATION
Annual preventive maintenance increases the life cycle of the pipette and minimalizes the occurrence of leaks or other pipette defects. The tip cone, tip cone holder, piston, and tip ejector are disassembled and cleaned, and the piston is lubricated with silicone grease (if necessary). If need be, OEM parts are used to replace worn-out O-rings, springs, and seals. These parts are always billed separately. Maintenance and calibration are admittedly mutually inclusive. Therefore, some form of maintenance always precedes each calibration. This is included in our calibration price.

REPAIRS
Any repairs costing less than €80 excl. tax (excl. calibration and maintenance) will be done automatically.
For any repairs costing more than this amount, we hold off until you consent to the quoted price.
If you decide not to have the repairs done, we will be obligated to charge an administrative fee of €25 excl. tax.

PROCEDURE
When providing your instruments to us, they should always be accompanied by a completed decontamination form as well as a request form (per instrument), which you should use to supply all the necessary information to us.
